I just sent my new longish, plotty G/D story, "Ten Years On", to Bluespirit for her to beta. I feel like I've been writing this story for months! I started it, rather naughtily, when I was about 4000 words away from the end of HiPS. I NEVER usually start a new story before finishing the one I'm working on but I clearly needed a bit of time out from the massive epicness of HiPS, and also I think I just didn't want to get to the end of writing HiPS so this was a delaying tactic on my part. So this plot bunny leapt into my head and I wrote the first scene of it way back in September I think. Then I left it to return to HiPS and it was just sitting there, percolating away while I got distracted with other plot bunnies, like "Andy". Then I finally had a chance to go back to it and got interrupted again when I went on holiday - which turned out to be excellent as I wrote some of it while I was in the Caribbean and it was a wonderful writing experience - one of the best I've had. And ever since I finished it I seem to have been endlessly polishing it for some reason. I've had betas from Aisling and Nikita, which were very helpful, so it's very nearly there. I think. *g*. Unless Bluespirit tells me there's a massive plot hole in it!

I'm not sure when it'll be posted but here's the blurb so you know what it's about when it finally arrives. I don't think I even need to mention that there's a major angst alert on this one do I? *g*. I'm a little bit in love with this universe I must admit, although it is all very sad.

Ooh, it's a long one! Yay! I love to hear about the writing experience, how it starts and stops and gets picked up again, they whys and wherefores!

This one was quite an interesting writing experience - it felt really easy and flowed although there is a complicated plotty thing in there that I wrestled with just a bit - wanting to keep it simple but do justice to it at the same time. I don't think I've ever started a fic and then shelved it and then gone back to it this way although I always knew I wanted to write it. And it's the first fic I've ever written while on holiday *g*. And there's also a character in it that I fell in love with a bit *ggg*.
