I think Gibbs eschews psychology because he thinks a lot of things are kind of bleeding obvious *g*. So he's just using what he thinks is common sense rather than psychology. And Tony would never co-operate with a shrink so he knows there's no point even attempting that. But yes, he's not perfect - he's way out of his comfort zone here. He was all about the case and justice and now he finds he's got someone falling apart on his hands and he is afraid of how he *feels* about that person so he's all mixed up. I didn't think he'd leap straight into being able to figure it all out - it takes him time but he IS always there for Tony, despite that. Give him a break - he'll come through!
