What a wonderful start to this chapter, it's so nice to see the beginning signs of Rodney Sheppard from G&DS peeking out of Dr McKay. I was grinning madly at his exuberance in the lab, and the sweet little touch with the coffee and doughnuts.
I loved that little scene at the staff meeting. John's eyes lighting up at Rodney's entry was a treat, but I really loved playful predator John. You described this little scene perfectly, I could picture the scene perfectly and feel the charged atmosphere between these two men as John used his body language and eyes to totally arouse a flustered Rodney.
Loved this:
"Are you offering me a TSBJ, Rodney?" John asked, raising an amused eyebrow.
"A what? Oh. I see. Idiot. And yes I am. Are you declining?" Rodney raised an equally amused eyebrow, and John laughed out loud.
"Hell no! This kind of thing makes you the sub of my dreams, Rodney. Get to work!"
*Grins* Love the growing relationship between these two men and John's shortening of Rodney's truly spectacular blow job down to an acronym and flinging it at Rodney is nicely playful.
Also loved this:
"... Does it settle down after awhile, or am I condemned to being a simpering halfwit forever?”"
LOL! Rodney's concern over how to handle getting through his workday now that he's totally besotted is completely endearing.
I loved that whole scene in the transporter, I loved the TSBJ, but most of all I loved the picture I had in my head of Rodney as he leaned back and gazed up at a thoroughly happy and sated John, so beautifully described.
Loved Rodney's exit line and John's belated response when he finally discovered what Rodney meant. It's little moments such as these that make this relationship so damned perfect to me.
John's wanting Rodney to be naked when they are alone is so hot, and I can now see where Rodney Sheppard's complete comfort at being in his own skin developed.
Loved this: “Oh please. That sounds very unhygienic,” Rodney sniffed.
LOL! Rodney really has to learn to get in touch with his romantic side.
Extremely hot sex! Love fully-clothed John and naked Rodney. Yummy. :)
I was so saddened by Rodney's complete belief that this relationship he had with John was only ever going to be short-term, his thoughts over sharing the plate and how it would all be so much harder for him when they eventually broke up, his not wanting to have to deal with a public break-up (which explains why he's so keen to keep the relationship a secret), his fear that he will be a drag on John's career, and most of all, his conviction that he will never live up to the high expectations of what a relationship should be as exampled by John's parents (which goes a long way in understanding why Rodney seemed so fixated on the photo), allows us a little deeper look inside Rodney's psyche and why he's more fixated on the sex rather than the relationship.
Sad thing is that deep down he knows that it's the relationship that he wants and needs:
"Was it possible that it was the relationship that made the sex so satisfying?"
His total pleasure in completely submitting to and pleasuring John, his feeling of total relaxation at having John hold him close in his sleep, just touching and being touched by John, his pure joy at being alive... it all speaks volumes about how it's the relationship and not the sex, but his fear of eventually losing this is holding him back so completely, and although I really have no idea what the shield deal is with Rodney... it nonetheless wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't more about keeping John a little longer by denying the next stage in their relationship from developing and therefore bringing him closer to that break-up he is convinced is going to happen.
