Hmmm, nice action, very nicely paced and taut, good suspense. The life bond aspect of the relationship between the AUs adds another dimension to the tragedy.
And it's certainly nice to see AUROdney acting like a decent human being for the first time since they've arived. Seems he canactually be a decent guest if he puts his ego on hold. It's nice to see him own up to the fact that he's been an ass on purpose.
While I think that ourRodney's aknowledgement of his attraction to John was pretty inevitable all along, I like that Rodney is having to monitor himself constantly. It isn't the kind of a change in POV that is going to happen instantaneoulsy....you don't just go 'Duh!' and suddenly you start acting totally differently. So the tentativeness is very realistic, and of course there's still DADT and the implications if they do decide on more than a close friendship. I'm curious about ourJohn's feelings on that. He doesn't seem to have given it much thought, or if he has, he hasn't said/thought anything that we're privy to.
I have to say that the sudden comaraderie between the Rodneys felt far too sudden. I'm not sure I think it would have just happened like that, from one night to the next morning, even with the events of the day before.

All in all, an interesting chapter.
