Morrow was the best director ever. Sigh. I adored writing him in this - he's got lots more to do :-).

And yes! I totally think Gibbs sees the Tony underneath - he always has, in this universe or any other. He sees the brave, loyal St Bernard even when others are put off by one of Tony's masks.

And yes to the headslaps - I feel this is how they started. Never liked what they did with their origin on the show!
