That's all so helpful, seriously, and really good advice. I already do the writing in chronological order, because I know that if I skip ahead to the fun scene, it might seem great when I'm done but it'll distract me from writing the rest and it'll lose all kind of emotional value if I write the rest of the story leading up to it.

I think half of the problem is that I get caught up thinking about lines, too, and it kind of makes me lose focus on the scene I like itself. I'm going to try focusing more on the context, and keeping the lines until later - this means, of course, that I'm going to have to get myself into action and actually sit down and just write it, rather than pondering it dreamily! I have a feeling it'll take a while to train msyelf out of that habit, but I'll definitely try it with the opener of the fic that's nibbling at me now.

That's so interesting about the brakes kind of popping up, because they were the thing in that scene that really decided me on where I stood with Tony's dad! Before that I was totally umming and ahhing and deciding whether I had some compassion for him or not!

I was actually going to be horrendously cheeky, and wonder if you would mind if I stole your Rhode Island NCIS Centre idea for a fic? It's not similar to your (totally ace, by the way, get on that!) plot idea, but I've had a kind of plot idea and it involves Tony going off somewhere else for a while, and Rhode Island - MRCT, not DVU - would be perfect. But it could easily be worked another way with him going to another NCIS centre, I just didn't want you to see it (if I ever actually write it) and think, WTF! ;-) (I'd totally also credit you!) (And if you wanted to check it and make sure it didn't stray too close to plagiarism, that'd be fine too.) (If it comes to anything, which it might not!)
