He said in one ep that he and his dad used to pack up and move on when one of his dad's marriages went sour so he can't have been at boarding school ALL the time. Also, this implies to me that his mom (his dad's first wife?) died, or else Tony would more likely be living with his mom. Then his dad remarried several times - and yeah, I can see the stepmoms bringing him home from boarding school to mother him. Or sending him there to get rid of him *g*.
